Guide

MIDI & Export

Play and record from a MIDI keyboard, map knobs with MIDI Learn, import and export MIDI files, export WAV files and perfect loops, and save project files.

MIDI Input & Output
Play the synth from a MIDI keyboard or controller, or send notes to an external synth or DAW. In Options → MIDI, press Connect MIDI Devices, then choose an Input and an Output. Notes outside the scale snap to the nearest row on the grid. Start and Stop messages from the input start and stop playback. Browsers without Web MIDI, such as Safari, can't connect MIDI devices.
MIDI Record
The record button appears next to Play while a MIDI input is connected. Arm it and press Play: the notes you play are written into the active track at the playhead, and held notes extend across columns. On a drum track each hit fills one cell. Arming switches the track to forward playback. Set a count-in in Options → MIDI.
MIDI File Import/Export
Export MIDI saves the song as a standard .mid file with its tempo, time signature, swing, gate, arpeggios, mute and solo, and volume, pan and tempo automation. Import MIDI opens a .mid file (up to 2 MB) as a new song and takes the scale, grid size, tempo and time signature from the file. The song it replaces stays in My Songs. Both buttons are in Options → MIDI.
MIDI Options
Toggle which MIDI parameters are sent and received: velocity, MIDI clock (sync external gear), pan, and pitch bend. The pitch bend range is ±2, ±7, ±12, or ±24 semitones.
MIDI Learn
Click MIDI Learn in Options → MIDI, click a slider, then move a knob or fader on your MIDI controller to map it. The slider then follows that CC. Each mapping is listed below the button with its own remove button; Clear Mappings removes them all. Mappings are saved in this browser.

Export & Import

Export as WAV
In the Share dialog, choose Export Audio, pick Full song or Perfect loop, then press Download .wav file. The song renders offline to a 16-bit stereo WAV file. Full song plays to the end and lets the last notes, reverb and delay ring out. With Loop Playback on, choose how many loops to export; a song that never ends exports for a length you set, up to 30 minutes.
Perfect Loop Export
Exports a WAV file that loops with no gap or click, for use as a loop in another DAW. The file starts on the downbeat, the reverb and delay tails from its end are already in its start, and its length is a whole number of steps. One loop is the longest track's loop; choose how many to export. Shorter tracks that don't fit it evenly start over with each loop. A song that never plays the same way twice exports a set number of bars instead. When the tempo doesn't change inside the loop, the file stores its tempo in an ACID chunk, so DAWs that read it can match the loop to the project tempo.
Project Files
Songs are saved in this browser only. In the Share dialog, Export project file saves every grid size into one file, and Import project file loads one back. A file opens as new songs; the songs they replace stay in My Songs.
