Song Settings & Appearance

Song Settings in Draw.Audio: song name and notes, color themes, a spectrum music visualizer, transport bar skins and piano roll grid options like note names.

Opening Song Settings
Click the Song Settings button beside the song name in the header. On a phone, open the menu in the header and tap Song Settings. It has three tabs: Song, Theme and Grid. Everything in it is saved with the song, so anyone who opens your shared song sees the same name, colors, visualizer and grid view. In Simple mode, the gear button opens a shorter version (see Simple Mode).

Song Name, Author and Notes

Song Tab
Name the song and add details for people who open it. Name: the song's title, up to 60 characters. It is the same name shown in the header. Author: your name, up to 40 characters. Notes: anything you want listeners to read, up to 1,000 characters. When a song has an author or notes, a Song info button appears beside its name in the header and opens them. To share a song or save it to My Songs, see Songs, Sharing & Explore.

Color Themes, Visualizer and Transport Bar

Color Themes
Pick one of 35 color themes under Colors in Song Settings → Theme. Click the theme name for the full list, use the arrows to step through them, or press the dice for a random theme. The theme is saved with the song, so anyone you share it with sees it too.
Custom Colors and Grid Cell Fill
Open Customize under the theme picker to set your own colors. Interface Colors: Background is the page background, and Interface colors buttons, sliders and highlights. Waveform Colors: one note color each for Sine, Sawtooth, Triangle, Square and Pulse notes on the grid. Grid Cell Fill: Background fills empty cells with a color at the strength you set. Notes fills each note with its border color. At 0% cells and notes stay empty.
Spectrum Visualizer
A music visualizer that shows the frequency content of your sound in real time. Pick from 32 themes in Song Settings → Theme, press its dice for a random one, or press V / Shift+V to step through them. Three of them, Seismograph 1, Seismograph 2 and Split Bars, react to drums and synths on separate channels. Others, such as Plasma, Mycelium and Caustics, change shape with the music. Turn it on or off with the switch beside Visualizer or with G. It is off while Performance Mode is on.
Visualizer Settings
Open Customize under the visualizer picker. A theme hides a slider it has no use for. Color: the visualizer's color. Cycle Colors: shifts the color through the rainbow. Choose Off, Slow, Medium or Fast. Opacity: how strongly the visualizer shows through. Speed: how fast the visualizer moves. Response: how quickly it follows the sound. Full page: draws the visualizer behind the whole page, not just the grid.
Transport Bar
The display in the middle of the header shows where the song is while it plays. Turn it on or off with the switch beside Transport Bar in Song Settings → Theme. Pick a skin there, press the dice for a random one, or hover over the bar and use its arrows (on a touch screen, tap the bar to show them). The skin is saved with the song. When the header is narrow, less important readouts drop out first. The transport bar is off while Performance Mode is on, and hidden in Simple mode.
Transport Bar Skins
Each skin shows a different set of readouts. Studio: position with beat lights, time, tempo, time signature, page and key. LCD: bar, beat, BPM and time in seven-segment digits, with status lights for play, loop, metronome, automation, recording and count-in. VFD: BPM, time signature, key and chord, with lights for loop, metronome, count-in and swing. Dot Matrix: two lines of dot-matrix text, with position, time, BPM and time signature on top and the chord and notes playing below. Each line doubles as a level meter for the left or right channel. Engineer: position, time, peak level, loudness in LUFS, true peak, voices, DSP load and dropouts. Song Map: a map of the song's pages with the playhead on it, plus bar, page, BPM and time. Keys: the key, chord and note, with the note lit on a small keyboard. Scope: an oscilloscope of the main output. Bar Hopper: a pixel runner that hops one block per beat and counts the bars. In Studio, Engineer and Song Map, click the time to switch between Show time left and Show time played.

Grid View

Piano Keys
Show a vertical keyboard beside the grid, with white and black keys aligned to the rows like a piano roll. Click a key to hear its pitch. Turn it on in Song Settings → Grid or in the scale picker. It's hidden on drum tracks and saved with the song.
Note Labels
Show note names on the grid so you can see which pitches you're placing. Turn it on in Song Settings → Grid or in the scale picker. It's saved with the song.
Other Tracks
While a song plays, the other tracks' notes show as faint shadows behind the grid, in each note's color. Turn them off or set their opacity with Other Tracks in Song Settings → Grid. They are hidden in Performance Mode.
Beat Lines, Octave Rows and Scroll Bars
The other switches on the Grid tab. Tap a tile to turn it on or off. Beat Lines: lines between beats and bars. Octave Rows: shades the row of the scale's root note in each octave. Scroll Bars: shows scroll bars when the grid is bigger than the screen.
