Songs, Sharing & Explore
Save your songs, share music online with a link anyone can play, back up with a project file, and browse and remix featured songs in Explore.
- Song Name
- Type a name in the Song name field in the header and press Enter. The field shows in Advanced mode on wide screens. Elsewhere, name the song in Song Settings → Song or at the top of the Share dialog. The name is shared with the song and shows in the browser tab, in My Songs and Explore, and in the names of exported WAV, MIDI and project files.
- New Song
- The New song button (+) in the header starts a blank song on the grid size you're on, with one synth track and one empty page. The song it replaces goes to My Songs. Ctrl/Cmd+Z reopens it.
My Songs
- Songs Panel
- Click My Songs in the header, or press Ctrl/Cmd+O, to open your saved songs in a panel beside the grid. Explore is the second tab. The panel stays open while you open songs, so you can try one after another. Click the button again or press Escape to close it. On phones it opens from the header menu as a sheet: drag its top edge to resize it, or swipe it down to close it. In Simple mode, My Songs opens as a window and Simple mode keeps its own list of songs.
- Song Cards
- Each song shows a picture of its notes, its name, its grid size, when it was last edited, and its track count and length. Click a card to open the song. The open song is marked Current. A song is added to My Songs once it has a note, a name or notes. A song opened from a link or from Explore is added once you edit or rename it.
- Search, Filter and Sort
- Search songs: appears once you have seven or more songs and matches song names. Grid size: the chips show only songs of one grid size, or All. They appear when your songs use more than one size. Shared: shows only songs you have shared. Sort: Last edited, Name or Date created. Sorted by date created, each card shows when the song was made.
- Managing Songs
- New song: starts a blank song on the current grid size. The arrow beside it opens New song on a grid of, to pick 8×8, 16×16, 32×32 or 64×64. Open: click the card. Each grid size holds one song at a time, so opening a 64×64 song switches the grid to 64×64 and the song it replaces stays in My Songs. Rename: click the song's name on its card, or press F2 on a focused card. Duplicate: the copy button on the picture adds a copy of the song. Delete: click the × on the picture twice. Undo in the message that follows brings the song back. Remove all songs: at the bottom of the panel. Click it twice to delete every song in the list, with Undo.
- Sharing Menu
- A song you have shared has a share button on its picture. Copy share link copies the link from its latest share. Send… opens your device's share sheet, on browsers that have one.
- Shared Before
- Below your songs, Shared before lists songs this browser has shared that are no longer in My Songs. Open one to add it back. Show all lists every one.
Song Info
- Author, Notes and Details
- Add your name as the Author, and Notes such as credits or lyrics, in Song Settings → Song or in the Share dialog. Both are saved and shared with the song. Once a song has an author or notes, an info button appears beside the song name. It shows them, and a Details list: Created and Last edited: when the song was made and last changed. Shared: the song's latest share link, or No. Origin: where the song came from, such as a shared link, Explore, an imported file, or a copy of another song. Click the link or song name to open it.
Sharing
- Share a Song Link
- Click Share in the header, then Create Link. The link is copied to your clipboard and shown in the dialog with a Copy button. Anyone can open it in a browser to play the song, with no account. A link holds the song on the grid size you're on. A link plays the song as it was when you shared it. Later edits don't change it: share again to get a new link for the new version. Sharing a song you haven't changed gives the same link again. A link shared from Simple mode opens in Simple mode.
- Share Sheet
- On phones, tablets and browsers with a system share sheet, a Share button sits beside Copy. Use it to send the link to a messaging app, email or social app.
- When a Link Can't Be Made
- Creating a link needs an internet connection. The dialog says so when you're offline, when the song is too large to share (remove some pages or tracks), or when too many links were made in a short time (wait a few minutes). If the link was made but couldn't be copied, select it in the dialog and copy it yourself.
- Opening a Shared Song
- A shared link opens the song as a new song. The song you had open on that grid size stays in My Songs. Edit the shared song to remix it: it becomes your own song in My Songs, and sharing it gives a new link.
- Export Audio
- Export Audio in the Share dialog saves the song as a WAV file. Choose Full song or Perfect loop, set how many loops to export if the song loops, then click Download .wav file. See MIDI & Export for the options.
- Project Files
- Export project file at the bottom of the Share dialog saves every grid size's song into one .json file, a music project file you can keep as a backup or move to another browser or device. Import project file opens one as new songs, and the songs it replaces stay in My Songs. Import isn't available in Simple mode. See MIDI & Export.
Explore
- Browse Featured Songs
- Click Explore in the header to browse Featured Songs made with Draw.Audio, in the tab beside My Songs. Each card shows a picture of the song's notes, its name, grid size, tempo in BPM, track count and length. Click a card to load the song. It opens as a new song and yours stays in My Songs. If a song was playing, the new one starts playing. Edit a loaded song to remix it and keep it in My Songs. Explore isn't available in Simple mode.
- Explore Page
- The featured songs are also on the public Explore page. Click a song there to open it in Draw.Audio.
Where Songs Are Saved
- This Browser on This Device
- Your songs save as you work, in this browser on this device. There is no account, and they don't sync to other browsers or devices. Clearing this site's data in the browser deletes them. To keep a copy elsewhere, share a link or export a project file. The first time a song is saved, a Saved label appears under the My Songs button.
- "Your work isn't being saved"
- This banner appears when the browser's storage is full or the browser blocks storage for this site. Your changes are lost when you close the page. Click Export project file in the banner to save a copy, then free up space or allow storage for the site.
- Several Tabs
- Each tab can have different songs open. A song open in one tab is marked Open in another tab in My Songs elsewhere. Opening it there opens a copy instead, so the two tabs never overwrite each other, and a message says so.
